Animation Toolbox
These are a bundle of tools I have developed for my animation workflow that greatly increase my animation speed and also to substitute a lot of tools usually placed under a monthly subscription paywall.
I'll add an image with instructions for every tool in this bundle and a read-me file contains instructions to make hotkeys of any tool on this bundle.
Included tools: (I'll be adding video tutorials for the tools)
-Set Key (with out disturbing animation curves)
-Create sets of controls to fast cycle through them ( I use it to fast cycle through finger controls or any FK chain in a rig)
-Create sets of controls to fast swap between pairs of controls ( I use this to hotkey swap between head and eyes, knees and feet, elbow and wrist; no more time lost finding those pole vectors! )
-World space tool ( This is very helpful to clean up curves, to get rid of pop on the knees or elbows, and there are many tricks one can use with world space switching)
-Automatic aim constrain ( This tool creates in 2 clicks an aim constrain controllable by a locator, create to animate objects the character have in hand like swords, or to automatically generate "free animation" driving the rotations of a control with the translation of another, I use this to get "free animation" on shoulders for example)
-Automatic overshoot with particle: This is great to generate automatic overshoot animation, great for little details during last phases of animation, like adding subtle little giggles to details and saves the movement in a locator (this tool requires Maya to calculate and cache a particle for simulation)
-Invert Hierarchy: This tool is meant to allow you to "invert" the hierarchy of a FK chain, its meant for animation a character hanging, for example a spider-man swing, or using a grappling hook.
-Select Opposite : This tool select the opposite control in your rig, with shift can add the opposite control in your selection
-Create Constraints : Include shortcuts to fast creation of parent, point and orient constraint that I use a lot during certain workflows
-Second custom pivot: this tool allows you to create and modify a second pivot per control, super useful for those times where you want two points of contact to rotate from
-Temporal master: This tool creates one common temporal control for your selection of controllers, I use this a lot when working with IK arms and I want to fast rotate/translate the COG with out leaving the arms behind, you can essentially move and rotate the cog and the arms will follow as if they were temporally FK.
- Also include a Bake tool
- A create locator tool ( can create a locator on every selected object, or with shift 1 locator placed at the average distance of every selected object)
- A delete constraints button (shift will delete the audio on the scene) this, as simple as it sounds has been a huge time saver for me
- Align (snap) objects button (with shifts it aligns the objects while ignoring rotation)
- The UI of the tool has a big and small toggle when clicking on the image ( you can also change the image to what ever you want)
- Shift clicking on the image toggles freeze the view port (good for complex and long baking) this makes the image gray scale so you have a visual cue when this is activated
Maya Supported versions:
